The North American Symposium on Bat Research (NASBR) is a society dedicated to the promotion and development of the scientific study of bats (Chiroptera) in all its branches, including conservation and public education. The society holds an annual meeting, usually in October, of professional bat researchers from throughout North America, with occasional attendees from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. NEWS
(JULY, 2008) NASBR members voted, with a strong majority, to support the Bats and Wind Energy resolution (see text on resolutions page)

PLEASE DONATE!
NASBR manages two funds whose proceeds are used to support
student research. The *Bernardo Villa Fund* supports NASBR’s Villa
Award. First given in 2006, the award recognizes outstanding research
by a Latin American student by funding travel, lodging, banquet and registration
expenses to attend a NASBR meeting. The *Karl F. Koopman Fund* supports
NASBR's Koopman Prize, which is awarded at each annual meeting to the
best student paper in systematics or zoogeography. People can also donate
to the Spallanzani Award Fund, which pays the expenses of students from
outside North America who are coming to the NASBR meeting, and donate
to the Teacher's Workshop Fund, to help educate teachers right in the
city where the conference takes place. A brief History of the NASBR
