We are soliciting proposals for review papers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the North American Society for Bat Research. This edited volume highlighting the broad array of research in bat biology will be published in October 2020 to coincide with our meeting in Tempe, Arizona.
Successful proposals will be for review papers ideally based on concepts that were originally presented at a NASBR meeting during the first few years of the society (1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975). But for more recent areas of research, proposal manuscripts can address changes that have occurred in these areas of specializations and how they have developed in earlier presentations at NASBR. Each manuscript should link the essence of the original work to publications that have arisen since then and the impact that the initial idea had on the study of bats.
We invite all members of NASBR to put forward appropriate topics for consideration by the editors. Collaborative contributions involving early- and late-career researchers, including non-NASBR members if desired, are encouraged.
To propose a chapter for inclusion in the celebratory volume, authors will provide information that includes: 1) citation of the original presentation(s), and published papers arising from that work; 2) names and affiliations of proposed authors (we hope that each author team will include a graduate student); and 3) a detailed (up to 200-word) story-line presenting the overview of the paper).
Final manuscripts will be up to 5,000 words and include up to 30 citations, and a maximum of 5 figures and/or tables. The editors also will serve as reviewers of the manuscripts.
