Important: This activity happens simultaneously with the Student Poster competition and the Student Social on Thursday AND with the Regular Poster presentations and the Fruit Bats Meeting on Friday. Plan accordingly! Explore the diversity of bats in Guadalajara with our Bat Netting experience in Los Colomos Park on October 23rd and 24th. We will place mist nets to capture and identify various species. The activity is demonstrative; therefore, the handling of specimens will be carried out only by the technicians in charge of the activity. The specimens may be photographed without flash. Only rehydrating drinks will be provided; attendees can bring a snack, and it is also essential to wear a medical-grade face mask (KN-95). LGBTQIA+ MIXERFriday, October 25th Time: 7:30 to 10:30 PM The LGBTQIA+ mixer will be held This event is a queer affinity space, providing a safe and inclusive environment for individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community to network, socialize, and have fun. It's an opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences and identities, build community and support networks, and enjoy the wide selection of board games and delicious food and drinks . Appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided, with options to purchase from the onsite cash bar. Rides to and from the conference hotel will be available for participants on the night of the event via rideshare apps.
DIVERSITY IN SCIENCE BREAKFASTSaturday, October 26th The Diversity in Science Breakfast is an opportunity to explore and discuss issues that involve all of us in a friendly open forum. The goal is to promote conversation and actions to help us achieve an inclusive, diverse, and supportive culture in STEM, both within our own NASBR society and at our home institutions. Enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast bites while considering ways to recognize and defeat implicit bias, conquer imposter syndrome, and build inclusive and supportive environments for diversity in science. All are welcome!
