The Venue - The Fort Garry Hotel, Spa, and Conference Center The 51st North American Symposium for Bat Research will be held at the Fort Garry Hotel, Spa, and Conference Center. This beautiful, historic venue is located in the heart of eclectic Downtown Winnipeg, within easy walking distance of a wide variety of restaurants and attractions. In 2016, Winnipeg was named one of the best places on earth to visit according to National Geographic Travel. Within walking distance of the hotel, visitors have access to the Exchange District, which is a National Historic site, as well as beautiful trails along the Assiniboine and Red Rivers, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights (location for NASBR’s Welcome Reception), and the Forks Market. The Fort Garry Hotel, Spa, and Conference Center is a stunning example of the chateau architecture found in the railway hotels built across Canada before 1930. Its rooms have regal high ceilings as well as top of the line mattresses, premium bed linens, down duvets, and feather pillows. Getting to the Fort Garry Hotel, Spa and Conference CentreTaxiThe Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (YWG) is just 10 km (6 miles) from the Fort Garry Hotel. Unicity Taxi, as well as the ride sharing companies Uber and ReRyde are licensed to operate at the airport. The approximate cost from the airport to the Fort Garry Hotel using these services is ~$25 depending on traffic. NASBR 2023 is using the Whova app to host the digital conference program and facilitate communication among attendees. We encourage attendees to coordinate with other attendees for travel to and from the airport using the Whova App (The app will be available closer to the conference dates). Public TransitPlan your route on the bus between the “Winnipeg James A. Richardson International Airport” and the “Fort Garry Hotel” using winnipegtransit.com/navigo.
